PRACTICE AND TRAINING

Practice begins 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Oakton but plan to arrive early to dress, stretch and work on individual skills. If a player cannot attend for work reasons, illness or other acceptable reasons, please let the coaches know early in the day by sending an e-mail to the coaches, the listserve or by phone. Attendence to training sessions is mandatory for everyone.

All players are expected to bring plenty of water, running shoes for the track, rugby boots and full kit including rugby shorts and a dark and light rugby jersey.

The routine varies each day but will always consist of light warm-ups, heavy sprint training, ball-handling drills, scrimmage and game philosophy. Players must continue to train at least four days per week, two days at rugby training and two days of distance and strength training.

Practice days are subject to change depending on the weather. The coaches will monitor the field status and update each player about any changes to the routine via e-mail at the NOVA Sevens Group on Yahoo! (subscribe).

New players, contact Ed Gafney to find out more about NOVA 7s.
